List Of Shuttle Stops, Transportation Ideas

Denver city officials say car pools, shuttle buses, bikes and feet are the best ways to get to Invesco Field at Mile High for Barack Obama's acceptance speech on Aug. 28.

  • Shuttle from downtown:

    The city will have Regional Transportation District shuttles for people parking downtown. The shuttle will run from 22nd and Blake Street, down Broadway to 8th to Zuni, to 13th and Decatur, and then to Invesco Field at Mile High on Howard Place. The shuttle runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The last shuttle will leave at 2 p.m. These shuttles will stop at all existing bus stops along the route and will be available for persons with disabilities.

    The bus pickup locations, before the Invesco event, are:
    • 22nd St. and Blake St.
    • 22nd St. and Larimer St.
    • 22nd St. mid-block between Arapahoe St and Lawrence Street
    • Broadway farside of Curtis St.
    • Broadway farside of Stout St.
    • Broadway nearside of Glenarm St.
    • Broadway farside of 17th St
    • Broadway nearside of Colfax Ave
    • Broadway nearside of 14th Ave
    • Broadway farside of 13th Ave
    • Broadway farside of 11th Ave
    • Broadway midblock between 9th Ave and 8th Ave.

    The shuttle bus dropoff locations, after the event are:
    • Lincoln and 7th Ave.
    • Lincoln and 9th Ave.
    • Lincoln and 11th Ave.
    • Lincoln and 13th Ave.
    • Lincoln and Colfax Ave.
    • Lincoln and 17th Ave.
    • Lincoln and 18th Ave.
    • Lincoln and 20th Ave.
    • Broadway and Stout St.
    • Broadway and Champa St.
    • Broadway and Curtis St.
    • Park Ave. West and Lawrence St.
    • Park Ave. West and Blake St.

  • Shuttle from Coors Field: Parking will be available for $5 per vehicle in Coors Field lots A, B and C, located northeast of Park Avenue West and Wazee Street. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a free shuttle service will be available to transport people from Coors Field lots to 5th and Walnut where they can walk across the Broncos Bridge to Invesco Field at Mile High. The last shuttles will leave the Coors Field lots at 2 p.m. All shuttles will be accessible for people with disabilities. No stops will be made between Coors Field and 5th and Walnut. After the event, shuttles will return from 5th and Walnut to Coors Field.

  • Parking: Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis on the Auraria campus, within walking distance of Invesco Field. Parking on residential streets around Invesco Field is limited to vehicles with residential permits. Auraria campus parking is $20/ in campus parking lots A, B, F, H, I, K, L, and W.   • Light rail: RTD regular fares apply to light rail. All light rail service is scheduled to be available on Thursday, August 28, 2008. The Pepsi Center Station will remain closed. Routes “C” from the southwest corridor and “E” from the southeast corridor stop at the Invesco Field Station. Individuals parking downtown can take light rail from Denver Union Station to the Invesco Field Station. Because RTD’s regular daily commuters’ cars will fill up most of our park-n-Rides, RTD is encouraging individuals to make arrangements to be dropped off at light rail stations or transfer from bus routes to take light rail to the Invesco Field at Mile High Station. All light rail vehicles and stations are accessible for the disabled.

  • Walking: Enjoy Downtown Denver and walk to the event. A pedestrian route -- designated with visible signage and staffed with volunteer guides -- will be available from the 16th St. Mall and Larimer St.. Signs will be placed along Larimer Street and continue through the Auraria Campus to Invesco Field at Mile High.

  • Bicycling: Only individuals carrying credentials for Thursday, August 28, 2008, will be allowed to park their bicycles at the Rude Park Bike Depot, located immediately south of Invesco Field at Mile High. Bordering streets include Federal Boulevard, West Howard Place, West Holden Place and Decatur Street.

    Access to Rude Park via bicycle will be as follows:
  • From the NORTH, including Downtown Denver: ROUTE D-7 and Cherry Creek Trail to 13th Avenue and connecting to ROUTE D-10
  • From the NORTHWEST: ROUTE D-3 Southbound, Detour West at 23rd Ave./Route D-6 West, to Irving St. Southbound to 14th Avenue to Rude Park
  • From the WEST: ROUTE D-8 Eastbound, Detour to Irving St. Southbound to 14th Avenue to Rude Park
  • From the SOUTHWEST: (Unaffected) ROUTES D-3, D-5, D-10 and Knox Court Trail, D-12 North to Rude Park
  • From the SOUTH: (Unaffected) ROUTES D-5, D-10, D-12, and D-7 connection to D-12
  • From the EAST: ROUTES D-8, D-9, D-10 or D-11, connecting to Rude Park via Route D-10 and 13th Avenue.

    Announced Bicycle Route Closures: Due to road closures and heightened security procedures in place for the Democratic National Convention, portions of ROUTES D-3, D-5, D-6, D-8 the Platte River Greenway and Gates Crescent Park will have partial closures and restrictions to bicycles as well as some temporary full closures of bike and pedestrian paths in the area immediately surrounding INVESCO Field at Mile High during the event. All Denver Bike Routes will re-open as normal on Thursday evening for bicyclists departing INVESCO Field at Mile High at the conclusion of the Convention program.

  • Street closures: Interstate 25 will be closed for 5 1/2 miles, from Interstate 70 to 6th Avenue, from 5:30 p.m. until the Invesco Field program ends. Colfax Avenue will be closed from Mariposa Street to Federal Boulevard from 9 a.m until the Invesco Field program ends.

    Accommodations for Persons with Disabilities within Invesco Field:

    Individuals with disabilities who have Community Credentials and who requested wheelchair-accessible seating when activating their credentials will be directed to appropriate pre-assigned seating areas with their companions upon entry and passage through security check points. Individuals requesting Assisted Listening Devices will be directed to Guest Services inside INVESCO Field to sign out ALD equipment. In addition, the DNCC is using handheld Blackberry devices with real-time text captioning in partnership with Colorado Captioning.

    Security: Due to heightened security procedures in place for the Democratic National Convention, please be advised that entry to Invesco Field at Mile High may require lengthy wait times. Please be patient and plan your trip accordingly. The DNCC, the City of Denver and RTD will provide staff and volunteers to direct and assist all credentialed guests and persons with disabilities.
