Retired teacher Bessie Boyd has been a fixture at the Colorado State Capitol. She has volunteered as a Capitol Tour Guide for 23 years!

"The enjoyment of being able to share the story about the capitol with everybody else from all over the world- that's the interesting part," said the former first-grade teacher.

Boyd knows the Capitol inside out. Those pink stones inside the building? Colorado rose onyx, a coloration that has never been found anywhere else in the world.

Boyd also shares with her visitors information about the state, like the state fish (greenback cutthroat trout) and state fossil (stegosaurus).
