Denver -- The Red Cross has been serving others for 127 years, and one Denver couple has been volunteering with the local chapter for 25 of them.Mitz and Millie Kurth are volunteer drivers with the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross. They usually put in between 75 and 125 miles per day."It's basically a program for seniors - to help them stay living independently by providing them transportation to medical appointment or getting to the grocery store - whatever we can do meet their needs for transportation," said Adeeb Khan, with the American Red Cross.
Mitz and Millie have donated their time two days a week, for the last 25 years. They say they are lucky to be able to help others—Mitz is 87 and Millie is 92. In fact, Mitz called it a privilege to be able to volunteer.
